Rhode Island's tattooed librarian calendar defies stereotypes
Mon Oct 14, 2013
School librarians have also been called school library media specialists, but most of 'em are just called librarians, which by the way, fiscalconservsocialmoder, means they have a masters degree or better in the field, plus teacher certification if they work in public schools. How's your education c …
High-heel sneakers wedge their way onto kids feet – but should they?
Thu Feb 14, 2013
You've got that right, jagged. I used to teach dance to kids, and some of the teens had short achilles tendons from wearing heels all the time. Forcing the toes into the front of the shoe can also deform them, making for foot problems and ugly feet as an adult. The makers of pointe shoes for ballet …
Waffle House CEO demanded sex acts, woman alleges
Fri Nov 9, 2012
He sued September 14. (How much you want to bet he was still after her and she threatened him with a lawsuit, so he filed first?). She filed her suit on September 19. She filed criminal charges on September 28. The AP didn't write the story on it until now.
50 Shades of onesies: Adult themes grace baby clothes
Fri Nov 9, 2012
Thanks, rjwriting. Parents please think about it. When would wearing an adult-themed shirt not be cute? When a grandparent wonders about your ability to parent? Wed Jan 4, 2012
JanB, it was just being pointed out that, if a bird died as a result of the wind farm, its feathers at least could be put to good use. It is illegal for most of us to own eagle feathers, but Native Americans (and eagle rehabilitators) are allowed to own them.
Elevator deaths rekindle phobics' worst fears
Fri Dec 16, 2011
To put what paramed said in other terms, your body inside the elevator is falling at the same speed of the elevator. Even if you could time it perfectly to jump up just before the crash, you are only slightly reducing the speed at which your are falling.
US history museums struggle to update exhibits
Sun Nov 6, 2011
Wright Museum has it right. Who were the people involved, and how are they relevant today? Interactivity and digital technology is nice, but passion and inspiration are essential. Otherwise, it's just another old house.
